Banks

In London the banks are generally open:-

9.30 - 14.30 Monday - Friday.

9.30 - 12.00 Saturday.

Closed on Sunday.

Some branches offer extended opening hours, ie. opening at 8.30 and closing up to 17.00, Monday to Friday, and 16.00 on Saturday.

In the City of London the banks are open:-

9.30 - 15.00 Monday - Friday,

Closed on Saturday and Sunday.

The City of London is approximately the areas near Bank, Liverpool Street, Monument, Cannon Street, Mansion House, St. Paul's and Moorgate underground train stations.

Businesses

Businesses are generally open between 9.00 - 17.30 [18.00] Monday to Friday.

Government Offices

Generally open between 9.30 - 16.30 Monday to Friday.

Shops & Department Stores

Generally open between 9.00 - 17.30 [18.00] Monday to Saturday.

In Knightsbridge (ie Brompton Road area) some shops and department stores are open until 19.00 on Wednesdays; and in the West End (ie Oxford Street area) some shops are open until 19.00 on Thursdays.

Some general grocery stores now have late opening up to 22.00 Monday to Saturday, and 10.00 - 16.00 on Sunday.

Many petrol/gas stations are open 24 hours a day; some also sell groceries.

Public Houses (Bars)

Generally open between 11.00 - 23.00 Monday to Saturday.

12.00 - 15.00 & 19.00 - 22.30 on Sundays.
